Orphanages in India, particularly in the Delhi-NCR region, are brimming with challenges and hindrances to education and employment. There exists a wide gap when it comes to access to modern infrastructure and exposure to enrichment programs. A lack of personalized mentorship also ends up coming in the way of children tapping into their true potential, and being equipped with opportunities to learn and grow. The growing landscape of socio-economic disadvantages are what amplify such challenges, and there scarcely exist the kind of tools or guidance for these students to be able to thrive in the academic and professional realms.
What does this mean for young individuals whose aspirations are constrained by systemic inequities? How can we empower them to break free from these limitations and work towards a better future?
This crevice is where SkillStart emerges. Designed with empathy and action at its core, SkillStart is a social initiative that seeks to bridge the gap between raw potential and tangible opportunity.. By listening to the needs for orphanage students in Delhi-NCR, and then subsequently providing them with the resources and mentorship needed to fulfill those needs, SkillStart aims to expand students’ horizons, instilling the confidence to dream bigger and the skills to bring those dreams to life.
